AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS
Aquatic Ecosystem is the ecosystem which involves animals, plants and other organisms living their life in the water. In short we can say that Biosphere in the Hydrosphere.
So here, the term hydrosphere means water on the earth surface. so when we say water on the earth surface, It is lakes, ponds, seas, oceans. And all these things are categorized according to their salinity percentage in the water.
Therefore, Aquatic Ecosystem is divided into 5 types and they are listed below:
1.Marine Ecosystem.
2.Fresh water Ecosystem.
3.Estuaries.
4.Coral reefs.
5.Mangroves.
So, Let us discuss one by one..........
MARINE ECOSYSTEM:
It is usually found in the oceans. The flora and the fauna in the oceans forms Marine Ecosystem. Salinity in the ocean water is very high, It's around 35ppt(parts per thousand) and it consists 90% of sodium chloride. Around 3/4th of the world is filled with the ocean water and So the Marine Ecosystem is biggest system among all Aquatic systems.
So flora and fauna in this system creates food chains and these chains forms food webs. Like terrestrial ecosystem it also consists so many food chains.
FRESH WATER ECOSYSTEM:
Fresh Water Ecosystem is another type of Aquatic ecosystem, It is of two types if we observe, they are lotic and lentil. Here lotic refers to moving water and lentil refers to still water. lotic systems are fresh water streams, springs, rivulets, creeks, brooks, rivers and the lentil systems are pools, ponds, swamps, bogs, lakes. These systems are considerably vary in physical, chemical and biological.
